There is something about Spain. Something that ignites the senses. It's easy to focus on the weather, on the sun; but it's deeper than that, even if the prevalence of clear blue skies throughout the year sits at the heart of it all. You see the sun breeds life, creates space, and powers a lifestyle and quality of life that brings people together and sees them live longer and healthier lives. It's all that and more about Spain. A culture that lives out in the open, growing strong from the abundance the sun provides.

From Sun to Earth to Olive

Just as the sun has people pulling back their curtains, leaving their windows and doors ajar, and heading for the avenidas, paseos, and ramblas, it bakes the land from morning to night, feeding the earth and all that grows there. Spain is without doubt the breadbasket of Europe; while the whole region sitting around the shores of the Mediterranean has given rise to food cultures and traditions that lap against each other like the calm cool waves of the Sea that binds them. The enigmatic olive as much the beating heart of this mighty heritage as the maritime geography.

This is the Spain we know

We are David and Patrick, friends who met in Barcelona years ago. Patrick, originally from Liverpool, has lived in Barcelona for over 13 years, while David, originally from Castilla-La Mancha, has lived there much of his life.

David and his family are long-standing members of a cooperative producing extra virgin olive oil. Every time he returned to Castilla La-Mancha, he would bring oil back with him to Barcelona. After trying it once, Patrick would also ask David to buy more oil for whenever he went off to see his family. This became their routine: David visiting home, Patrick asking him to bring back bottles, and then eventually travelling down there with him.

What started as a friend sharing his family's oil with another friend became Convivoli, which takes its name from Convivio, an old and traditional Spanish word meaning to gather with friends and share food and drink in a happy and pleasant atmosphere.

Time-Honoured Methods That Respect the Land

David's cooperative is built on tradition and heritage. Trees passed down from generation to generation alongside the skills and knowledge needed to tend them before handing them down again. This isn't industrial agriculture chasing volume; it is individual farmers pooling their resources so they can build on their tradition and heritage together.

Each bottle of Convivoli Extra Virgin Olive Oil comes from one type of olive, grown in one specific location, harvested at one specific time, and milled into oil no more than twelve hours after leaving the tree. This traceability guarantees authenticity. You know exactly what you're getting, where it came from, and who produced it.

Healthy lifestyle and high quality of life

Traceability allows you to confidently buy what many people call a miracle product for good reason. When produced properly, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the purest essence of the Mediterranean sun, and accordingly, it comes bottled up with a sea of health benefits to go with its rich and visceral taste experience. The true magic of Extra Virgin Olive Oil comes not just from the fruit and the soil, but also from the skills and traditions that produce it.

Patrick could taste this the first time he tried oil from David’s cooperative. David wanted to share it with as many people as possible. So Convivoli was born. The Essence of Something special.
